Connection and Mental Health with Medium/Intuitive Counselor Lorna Hines, New Jersey
On April 16th, 2024, Edge Talk Radio welcomed medium, intuitive counselor, psychotherapist, and spiritual teacher Lorna J. Hines from New Jersey for a thoughtful conversation about connection, mental health, spirituality, healing, and the importance of bringing people together across cultures, beliefs, and life experiences.
Drawing from decades of experience in both psychotherapy and spiritual work, Lorna shared how spirituality was a natural part of her upbringing. Influenced by the healing traditions of her grandmother and family, she grew up understanding that emotional, mental, spiritual, and energetic well-being are deeply connected. Rather than seeing mental health and spirituality as separate paths, she has spent her life helping people explore how these approaches can complement one another in meaningful ways.
Throughout the conversation, Lorna discussed the evolution of mental health care and how many healing practices once considered alternative are now becoming more widely accepted. She highlighted approaches such as breathwork, visualization, EMDR, yoga, meditation, acupuncture, and energy healing as valuable tools that can support emotional healing alongside traditional therapeutic methods.
One of the strongest themes of the episode centered around reducing the stigma surrounding mental health. Lorna emphasized that asking for help is not a sign of weakness but a sign of courage and self-awareness. She encouraged listeners to view support, healing, and personal growth as strengths that allow individuals to live more authentic and fulfilling lives.
The discussion also explored Lorna’s work as a medium and intuitive counselor. Through what she calls "soul readings," she helps people gain deeper insight into their life purpose, challenges, gifts, and personal growth. Her goal is not to tell people who they are, but to help them reconnect with the wisdom, understanding, and answers that already exist within them.
Another inspiring part of the interview focused on Lorna's humanitarian work in Ghana. She shared moving stories about helping children with disabilities who had been rejected or marginalized because of cultural beliefs. Through fundraising, donations, advocacy, and education, she has helped bring awareness, resources, and support to children and families who desperately needed hope and compassion.
Lorna also spoke passionately about the importance of recognizing the often-overlooked contributions of Black and Indigenous communities within spiritualism, healing traditions, and mediumship. She encouraged listeners to honor the diverse voices and cultural wisdom that have shaped many of today's spiritual practices.
As the conversation concluded, Lorna discussed trance healing and trance mediumship as powerful forms of spiritual connection and healing. Her final message was one of openness, curiosity, and connection. She encouraged people to step beyond fear, judgment, and division and become willing to learn from one another, embrace new perspectives, and create meaningful relationships that transcend cultural and spiritual boundaries.
What I Learned From Lorna Hines
Ways to bring people together on all planes. Transcending all cultures. Creating loving, energetic space filled with possibility. Moving our world forward one interaction at a time. One of my biggest takeaways from this conversation was the reminder to step outside of our comfort zones and truly connect with one another soul to soul. When we approach people with openness, compassion, curiosity, and respect, we create opportunities for healing, understanding, and growth that extend far beyond ourselves.
